TSA Volunteer Positions

Team Parent:  Organize parents, or collection of funds from parents, for purchase of concession tickets for players after games.  Oversee team contributions to Opening Day auction basket.  Organize end of season team party and coach gifts.

Dugout Parent:  Assist coaches in dugout before, during, and after games by: setting out equipment buckets (if applicable), organizing players in dugout by keeping players seated on bench and on deck and ready to bat at the appropriate time, assisting with clearing players and equipment from dugout promptly after games.  Dugout Parent is responsible for arranging for a parent to cover for them if they cannot be at a game and informing coach of who will stand in.

Scoreboard Operator: Operate scoreboard for all of team’s “away” games.  Scoreboard Operator is responsible for arranging for another parent to operate scoreboard if they cannot attend an away game and informing coach of parent who will assume their duties.  Generally speaking, kids should not be asked to operate the scoreboard without parent supervision.

Scorekeeper:  Keep official game score in standard baseball/softball scorebook for all of team’s “home” games.  Experience with keeping score in a standard baseball/softball scorebook is ideal, but a parent interested in volunteering and willing to learn may get a little instruction in keeping score.  The team Scorekeeper is responsible for arranging for another parent to keep score if they cannot attend a home game and informing the coach of the parent who will assume their duties.

Concessions:  During team’s assigned concession stand slot, spend ½ hour working in the concession stand together with another team parent.  Two parents must work in concession stand for team’s entire 1 hour concession stand slot.  Four volunteers will split this hour with each volunteer working ½ hour each.

Opening Day:  Opening Day volunteers work a 1-2 hour shift on Opening Day in one of several roles, including serving food, staffing carnival activities, staffing check-in and ticket and wrist-band distribution.

Tarp Team:  Assist when called upon by the Building and Grounds director with putting down or rolling up field tarps as required due to weather conditions.  Volunteers are expected to make a concerted effort to respond to calls for volunteers when needed.
