TSA Soccer

TSA offers Soccer in the Spring and Fall. 

Registration is open to boys & girls from 4-12 years of age as of August 31st.

Fall League

Co-ed Divisions:  4U(4yrs), 5U(5yrs), 6U(6yrs), 7U(7yrs), 9U(8-9yrs), and 12U(10-12yrs).

Spring League (at St. Mark Lutheran)

Soccer will be played at our St. Mark Lutheran fields     (1612 Pech Road, Houston, TX 77055).

Separate Boys and Girls Divisions – 6U (5-6yrs), 8U (7-8yrs), 10U (9-10yrs), and 12U (11-12yrs)

Registration opens in January.  

Teams will have two events per week at St. Mark Lutheran.  Typically one weeknight practice and one game on Saturday.  Some teams will play an occasional weeknight game. 

Spring Soccer Program

The Spring season will have separate boys and girls divisions and will consist of small sided games (5v5 for example).  United States Youth Soccer, and TSA, advocates small sided games for several reasons:

  1. More individual time with the ball and time with their coaches which will increase individual technical and tactical development.
  2. Smaller teams allows for more individualized coaching
  3. Players become more physically efficient with their field space.
  4. Players will have more involved active playing time on the field.
  5. Players will have opportunities to improve play on both sides of the ball (increased attacking and defending situations).
  6. All players will have more scoring opportunities, leading to more excitement for the game.

Our games and practices will be held at our St. Mark Lutheran fields.  Given game and practice schedules for soccer and baseball/softball, no player will be allowed to play both baseball/softball and soccer.  This is different than our Fall policy and should not be overlooked when registering.  There is simply no way to handle game and practice conflicts between all of the sports.

Coaches

All TSA teams are staffed by volunteer coaches. The success of our league is largely dependent on the generosity and commitment of our volunteer coaches. If are interested in being a head coach or an assistant coach, please email Matt Bordas (TSA Soccer Director) at timbergrovesoccer@gmail.com

Required Soccer Equipment

The league provides jerseys and socks.  Shin guards are required for all players.  The coach will tell you what color shorts to wear, but it is typically black.  Soccer cleats are not required, but they are highly recommended.  There is a lot of starting and stopping in soccer, and kids are prone to slip without cleats, especially for morning games when there is dew on the ground.  Cleats must be rubber soled - no metal cleats.  Soccer ball sizes for each age group are Size 3 for 4U, 5U, 6U, 7U and 8U (spring), and Size 4 for 9U (fall), 10U (spring) and 12U.

Registration Process

If you have not done so already, you will be required to create an account on the SportNgin/TSA Website before you can register. Just click the “Create an Account” link on the top left of the TSA website to create an account. After you create an account you will receive an email to confirm and finalize the account.  Once the account is created, you can then login to your account and register.  The price for registration is $125 per child.  The fee includes jerseys and socks.

Twitter

TSA Soccer is on Twitter!  You can keep up to date with everything happening with TSA soccer by following @tsasoccertx.  We will use Twitter to send instant updates on rainouts and other league related information.  If you do not tweet, you can still get any Twitter updates sent to your phone by text message.  Just text “follow tsasoccertx” to 40404 on your mobile phone.  You will then receive any tweets we send on your phone as a text message.  This is by far the best way to get the fastest updates on everything related to TSA soccer.
